AP2C Event #2
For A Path 2 Courage’s second event, Sophie Pollack shared her struggles during COVID-19 and what it is like being a survivor during this unprecedented time. AP2C brought on a special guest, Senia Silverman, to discuss her struggles as well during COVID-19. She showed some of her beautiful art which is provided below with descriptions of each piece. This is Senia’s coping mechanism. From journaling to books, this event highlighted how we, as survivors at the age of 18, found peace with our truth and can build a better life for ourselves. This event also covered the current news headlines about sexual assault reports involving Justin Bieber, Ansel Elgort, and various others. Both celebrities denied the accusations, and we, as survivors, discussed the responsibility the media holds in delivering the full story. The video is below; please check it out! Unfortunately, due to technical difficulties, only part one of the video saved, which is below.

“The girl represents how being in an abusive relationship can feel like it’s ripping u apart. Her body is tied to her past shown by the “I love you’s” which makes it hard to break away from an abuser. I had the colors red and blue to represent how an abusive relationship can have emotions of love and hate, which also are the colors of bruising.”

“This piece represents the pain that victim blaming can have on a survivor of sexual assault. Not being believed or being doubted is represented by the dagger that goes through the person. It can bring up past trauma which is represented by the multiple versions of the same person.”
